Peel Hunt – relying on Synergy for CREST & FINPeel_Hunt

Challenges

When, in November 2010, the management and staff bought Peel Hunt from KBC, a few challenges arose in ensuring a cost effective, reliable, connection to CREST and to SWIFT for processing of SWIFTNet FIN messages. The new Peel Hunt organisation did not wish to manage an in-house SWIFT solution and a number of options were explored – with the aim of reducing the burden of running a reliable SWIFT infrastructure.

Solution

Synergy Financial Systems were selected to provide an outsourced SWIFTNet FIN and CREST connectivity solution. Synergy’s own ClaritySuite™ thin client applications (MessageMaker for message entry and validation and ClarityInfo for reporting) was deployed as part of the Bureau solution. Peel Hunt’s SWIFT Project Manager, James Warren, commented: “We selected Synergy from a number of providers because they offered the best fit with our plans. Synergy were able to offer the best combination of cost and flexibility to make sure that we achieved our implementation objectives.”

Benefits

Peel Hunt LLP now have a reliable, resilient, connection for SWIFTNet Fin and for access to CREST. This has been provided with annual savings on recurring charges over an in-house infrastructure of in excess of 40%. When these financial benefits are added to the reduction in the burden on the in-house IT team, the savings are substantial. The deployment of Synergy’s ClaritySuite™ thin client suite of applications has also provided benefits. Talking about Synergy’s thin client solutions, James Warren said: “Users have found the applications straightforward to use – allowing them to focus on the business tasks rather than on the technology. From an IT support perspective, we like the fact that these applications are hosted in Synergy’s Service Bureau – meaning that we do not have to manage their environment, updates or patches – delivering further savings in our internal team.”
